Restoration has always been present in the ancient times of the Greeks and Romans, but we have to wait until the 15th century to understand it as it is today, that is, a preservation of a heritage of the past, an expression of human intelligence.
In the world of art services, the Restorer is a figure of great importance for the protection and conservation of works damaged by the passage of time, climatic conditions or human actions.
Its task is to limit the degradation processes of the constituent materials of the works of art, to preserve their visual, socio-cultural and physical identity, acting with targeted interventions where necessary.
It is also of fundamental importance for a restorer to understand how long a work can last, to define the best ways of conservation and transferability.
It is a partly artistic and partly scientific work: it requires an objective approach because the original meaning of the work must not be altered but preserved and transmitted.
